Payne Road is built on a former 19th century graveyard, a fact that resulted in the need for an extensive archaeological examination and exhumation of the site before construction could commence.
Furthermore, construction of the scheme was complicated by the fact one of the main sewers in London runs under it along with the planned route for Crossrail so the foundation was designed with this taken into account thanks to a transfer structure.
As well as the main tower element of the plans, there are four other buildings also involved in the scheme, one of which is a refurbished Victorian warehouse.
