Herzog + De Meurons Miami Slab

Starachitects Herzog & De Meuron have designed a new residential tower for Miami with a height of 199 metres.

The project is called Jade Signature and has been penned to stand in the Sunny Isles Beach area about 20 miles from central Miama where it will offer 224 luxury condominiums over 56 floors of accommodation.

The footprint of the tower is laid out as a parallelogram causing it to stand diagonally across the site with one core roughly sited at each end. This has led to the creation of a space in the middle where the larger five bedroom apartments can be situated. It also means that each apartment including the smaller three and four bedroom apartments on each floor have their own lift entrances - there's no sharing of the corridor leading to neighbourly Seinfeld experiences.

The shape of the tower is further enhanced by the projecting aluminium balconies and extended that create a pure parallelogram for the floor beyond the apartments. They also help enhance the exterior by adding a level of curvaceous detailing when seen up close to what is effectively a slab.

It may not be the most exciting design from the starchitects, but their immaculate attention to detail is retained in what is arguably one of their most commercial projects yet.
