NLA - London Bridge And Bankside Conference

One of the development hotspots of London, driven by numerous ambitious projects is the area of Bankside and London Bridge in Southwark.

New London Architecture is holding a conference on this and looking at the levels of redevelopment that are going on in the area now with ambitious plans of 1,900 new homes and 25,000 new jobs just be 2026.

Driving the redevelopment of the area has been the Tate Modern Gallery which was refurbished at the start of the century, although this momentum has since been added to by the construction of the Shard and the emerging London Bridge Quarter that will contain the first supertall in Western Europe.

Speakers at the half day conference are going to be some of the leading personalities involved in the changes going on in the area from those in local government, to development, and various other interested agencies and organizations. A particular highlight will be the appearance of James Sellar, the head of Sellar Design and Development and son of Irvine Sellar who is building the Shard. Their firm is also working on the Three Spires project in the area which has yet to see the light of day.

The ticket prices to attend are £149 plus VAT and the event is being held on the 9th of February 2010 at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT from the ungodly hour of 8.45am to 1pm.
