Met 2 Rises In Miami

Despite the world cash crisis that's affecting pretty much every aspect of life these days construction is well underway on a new project in Miami, USA.

Named the Met 2 Financial Centre, it is the work of Florida-based architectural firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe and Associates Inc, and will be developed by the MDM group who own and manage a number of prestigious hotel and office projects in south Florida.

When complete the tower will stand at a height of 197 metres and will be located on Avenue of The Americas in the heart of Miami's financial district and is billed to become one of the most prestigious business addresses once complete.

Set on a podium base the tower rises in two prongs of different heights and are regular rectangles allowing it to fit in nicely with its corporatist styled neighbours.

Constructed from steel and glass, the facades of the tower are clad in a striking green tinted, impact resistant glass, the taller section of the tower has a slanted cutaway which runs up from the towers base almost to its slightly slanted peak, similar to the peak of one of its neighbouring towers, this cut away breaks up the sheerness off the glaze.

The shorter section uses the same colour scheme and the facades are punctuated by balconies, this terminates in a flat roof. The low-rise middle section has contrasting white cladding that breaks up the green.

The tower will house premium office space in the taller portion whilst the shorter portion will be home to a 376 roomed Marriott Marquis Hotel featuring a ballroom, conference centre, a bistro and bar in the lobby, a restaurant and bar, full sized basketball court, virtual golf course and a bowling alley so getting bored shouldn't be an issue.

The scheme is scheduled for completion in 2010.
