Rather unusually for Dubai the tower boasts something understated, the developer Al Attar Properties has decided this supertall tower should be simply named The Skyscraper. Set on a wide, squared podium which has a slanted front the slim looking tower rises almost blade like up to skewed peaks. As it rises, the tower is smooth and sleek looking until when about two thirds of the way up a V shaped slash appears which is filled by a circular section of façade that is increasingly exposed as it runs vertically directly upwards. A similar feature also appears at the back of the tower and by the time the tower terminates, three peaks of varying height are created. The podium and the bulk of the tower facades will be blue tinted glazing, while the cylindrical sections will be white glazing. The roof of the podium base will provided a gardened area for workers at the tower to go and have some quiet relaxation time in and escape the stresses and strains of the working day. Located in Dubai Business Bay, when complete the tower will play house to premium offices with the possibility of cafes and restaurants being located in the podium levels although with the office market looking like experiencing a glut there, this is not something that will likely fill up overnight. The project was put on hold for a while and its future did look a little uncertain but with new contractors found the tower is now back on track. With things the way they are about the world at present there is no clear completion date but no doubt in a few years this tower will be another notch on Dubai's massive skyline. |
