Barratt Plan Mini Cluster In Lewisham

Barratt Homes has plans for a huge new development that includes 819 apartments in East London in Loampit Vale.

The 1.7 hectare site is located in the London Borough of Lewisham at the far western end of Lewisham's town centre just off the A20 which is part of central London's main road network.

It's been designed by Assael Architecture who have penned the scheme with exception of the leisure centre in it. This comes from LA Architects.

In all the proposals feature five new residential towers, some of which are standalone up to 15 storeys, and others which share common podiums with the tallest having 24 floors. Included in the plans are also creative space for companies, an energy centre, and much ground floor retail.

There is also parking for 201 cars in a mixture of undercroft and on street spaces and enough space for up to 893 bicycles and a public plaza on the western end of the development.

On the eastern end of the plot overlooking a second new public piazza will be the much-needed leisure centre with a climbing wall, two dance studios, an eight lane 25 metre pool, a second 20 metre training pool, and space for over 300 spectators - 25 metres is however half the length of an Olympic scale pool.

The main element of Loampit Vale is however the housing, as the involvement of the developer of the project, Barratt Homes would imply. There's a real mix of different types of residential accommodation from studio apartments in tower blocks, through to four bedroom duplex townhouses.

587 units will be for the private market with 232 affordable. Although this is only 28%, the total number of rooms will divided more equally with 65% being for the market and 35% being social housing.

When combined with the ambitious plans for Lewisham Town Centre itself, Loampit Vale will contribute to an impressive looking mid-sized cluster - that's if it can get approval.
