Battersea Power Station Tours Extended

Fans of Battersea Power Station or indeed anyone who didn't manage to take themselves down to enjoy the weekend tours of the site that were available through June and July of this year might be pleased to know that thanks to the popularity of the tours, extra weekends have been added so a few more folk can go and see the iconic site.

Future plans for the site will see a 300 metre tall tower designed by architect Rafael Vinoly and affectionately named "the Spark Plug" take centre stage. This will basically be a classier looking version of the Eden Project with tropical gardens interspersed with offices. As for the power station itself it will be overhauled and made into 90,000m2 of retail therapy space which no one can deny is a much more ecologically if not wallet friendly use for the space.

The extra dates are 16th, 23rd and the 30th of August which are all Saturdays, times are from 10am - 5pm.

As we stated last time sensible shoes are a must, so no kinky boots allowed unfortunately and due to the nature of the tour if the weather is on the manky side it wont go ahead so. If you're travelling some distance to get there we recommend to check the forecast first to avoid disappointment and wetness.

The visitors suite is at 188 Kirtling Street, SW8 5BN which is near Battersea Power Station to its immediate east. The nearest train station is Battersea Park about 700 metres away. There's also more info here - http://www.battersea-powerstation.com/
