Ammans Tallest Designed By Fosters

A new skyscraper has been approved to grace the skyline of Amman, the capital of Jordan.

Named Capital Tower it will be Situated at the Western end of the Al-Abdali master plan, the design comes from the ever busy British architects Foster and Partners, who this time are working for the Capital Bank of Jordan.

Comprising of three parts the project will have a central 220 metre tall tower flanked by two low rise buildings, all of which will be connected at their primary entrance level by an elevated, pedestrianised plaza which will also link the project to the rest of the masterplan.

Cylindrical in shape the tower apparently draws on inspiration of the sun, although it appears more to be inspired by a posh, round cheesegrater you can buy in the more upper class department stores.

Aluminium in shading, the tower sports glazed, shaped facades, and appears to be split into two cresent shapes arranged around a concrete central core with one side extending upwards further than the other to almost give the effect of two towers from a distance.

Its shaping and height will also afford spectacular views of the hills the city is founded on and around. the tower will also be eco friendly employing various means make as little impact as possible.

The two low-rise buildings sport an almost chequer board looking façade using both clear and etched glass, and apart from complimenting the main tower rather nicely the smaller buildings will act a shields for the landscaped pedestrian plaza against the hubbub of the city beyond.

Over the years Jordan has been an escape route for many escapees from various conflicts and until recently suffered from the influx and a disorganised building policy in recent years however there has been not only a flurry of people but also a flurry of conscientious construction with many world class architects vying for space on its fledgling skyline.
