201 Bishopsgate Makeover

Developer British Land have released their first renderings for a new skyscraper on 201 Bishopsgate at Broadgate. The plot which had previously had a design by S.O.M who also worked on this on it has been the seen of speculation for some time that it would see a taller design.

It will feature a 36 floor tower and will stand adjacent a lower rise building joined via an atrium and sharing a public piazza. With its sheer glass walling and sharp edges not to mention a triangular shape comparisons are bound to be drawn with the planned Minerva Tower. It will reach a height of 164.3m.

The City of London has been supportive of this new development realising the vitality of increasing the office stock in the city with tall towers to compete with Canary Wharf as the office market starts to heat up again looking for a 2008 peak.

Planning permission is expected to be applied for next week and should be a dead cert.
