First Super Tall On Dubais Waterfront

Fresh from winning a major design competition in Dubai, Spanish architects A-cero are back again with a simple yet elegant proposal for Dubai's Waterfront.

Sited at the Madinat Al Arab district which is currently under development and is expected to become Dubai's new Central Business District and stylish downtown, the tower named rather aptly the Wave Tower will be a mixed use development offering the all important retail space along with premium office space as well as top end, luxury residences - the sort with a pantry to put the butler in.

When built the tower will stand at a heady 370 metres or 92 floors, making it the highest tower designed by a Spanish architecture firm, something that will further enhance A-cero's position in the Hispanic architectural hierarchy.

Appearing as a very stylized stem, light torsion gives the impression of elegant movement that characterizes the project, the base of the tower extends outwards from the tower forming a pointed arch with smooth curves which will mirror the undulating shape of the Gulf Sea's waves but could just as easily evoke the rolling dunes of the nearby desert.

Minus a spire or a crown, the top of the tower has a blade like appearance, giving the tower a sleek and slim appearance that is further exaggerated by the height. The structure will have V shaped unions between the different parts and all installations and elevators will be situated in the towers central core.

The tower also features a double skinned façade made up of silk screened glass to aid solar control and interior gardens in all common areas throughout the tower which will not only improve air quality but also work as natural temperature regulators.

The usual amenities found in today's up and coming skyscraper will more than likely be present, allowing residents and patrons to kick back and relax in the Dubai sun or make sandcastles on the nearby beach.

This height makes it the first super-tall tower to have been publicly revealed for Dubai's Waterfront Area however the area is still being heavily planned meaning there could be a while before the project progresses further and we see the crest of this particular wave.
