Designed by Terra Architecture, One Bayfront Plaza will be sited on south Biscayne Boulevard overlooking Biscayne Bay and Bay front Park and will be Miami's tallest and most prestigious office block. If agreed upon the tower will stand at 320 metres or 1,049 ft and provide approximately 200,000 square metres of premier office space as well as 11,000 square metres retail space. Included in the scheme is a second tower that will stand at 824 feet which will house an 850 room hotel and convention centre which will offer 4 star luxury rooms and 12,000 square metres of exhibition and banqueting space. It is hoped the development will draw new investors and international companies to Miami and offers unparallelled views of the bay and with flexible floor plates as large as 39,000 square feet providing diversity for office design it is more than likely this objective will be realised. The hotel component of the scheme will service not only hotel patrons but also the office and retail spaces, this will be the first major hotel built north of the Miami river in 25 years and will boost the business district hotel room inventory by 20% in a city more traditionally known for it's tourist business. 2,500 parking spaces and a pedestrian bridge to the Bayfront Park metro mover station will also feature. The towers themselves resemble a rocket, albeit a rocket with a slight twist at its nose before being tapering into a pinnacle. It will have the usual glass façade with interesting and seemingly random detailing that will serve to break up the sheer glass. The steel frame is unusual in that it will feature fluid dampners which will absorb wind gusts. With approval now given, One Bayfront Plaza looks set to be Miami's most iconic skyscraper. |
