Canary Wharf 2008

Image by James Newman and Matt Bowker, 2003/4.

This is the latest montage we have been working on. Viewed from Elephant and Castle this shot sets out primarily to show the growth of the 152m / 500ft plus towers in Canary Wharf in just a few years time.

Visible or invisible because of density are 12 skyscrapers over 500ft tall, 4 just under this cut off, and an enormous amount of density. Everything pictured is officially planned or approved and we expect a number of those in this shot to be built in next year including the 237m tall Columbus Tower on the far left and either 1 Millharbour or Crossharbour at both around 130m.

Some people ask why our renderings and montages vary from picture to picture and that is not because they are inaccurate - they are the most accurate portrayal of the area given the plans at the time, however the developers change the plans and so our images then change. We try to keep things as true as possible though.

UPDATED -
To reflect the latest changes this image has been updated. It now features Woodwharf, British Waterways plans for some towers east of Churchill Place. Two of the towers for it can be seen between Heron Quays 3 and 1 Millharbour blocking the Millenium Dome. Crossharbour has also been reduced in height to reflect the revised plans for there.
