Other Information

  • The building is cladding in an exposed aluminium bronze alloy, chosen partly because of its 120 year design life before it will require a restoration and partly because of the bomb-proof abilities the material has.
  • Inside are officers for some 200 M.Ps who existing parliamentary buildings have been unable to accommodate.
  • Standing above the roofline are a series of what appear to be chimneys. These are actually part of a passive air conditioning system that allow the air from within the building to be naturally expelled.
  • An underground passage connects the building to the Palace of Westminster and other administration buildings for the Houses of Parliament
