  • This was Waterhouse's first major commission. Others include the Natural History Museum and a planned Central Criminal Court building in London twice the size.
  • The Manchester Assize Courts was effectively part of a law and order campus that included the next door Strangeways Jail that Waterhouse had also designed.
  • The building was a bombed out shell at the end of World War 2 and knocked down in the 1950s.
