  • St Dunstan in the East church was heavily bombed in the Blitz. Only the tower remained standing.
  • Shortly after the war was over, work began to restore the church which included the fitting of a new peal of bells.
  • In 1967 it was decided the church would not be rebuilt and the bells were taken out of the tower and sent to California.
  • Today the tower overlooks what is a public garden, one of the most beautiful in the City.
