Built to spec for the Inland Revenue, North Tower or Highland House as it was originally called, was one of the first buildings in the United Kingdom constructed using a construction crane to lift cladding into place rather than scaffolding.
Vacated by the Inland Revenue in 1995, the building was renovated between 1998 and 2000 with the top ten floors converted into apartments and the 12 floors below them serving as a new budget hotel hence the prominent purple branding the building boasts today.
