Other Information

  • Montevetro is designed as five blocks linked together by four structural expressionist service shafts with the architect's trademark lifts still visible on the top of them.
  • The building is orientated along a north/south axis with the views of the apartments maximised towards the west and the balconies arranged in a south facing nature to allow the maximum penetration of sunlight.
  • This is further exaggerated by the fully glazed western facade, that also helps it relate more strongly to the River Thames than the contrasting partially clad terracotta eastern side.
  • The massing of the building sees it start off at practically the same roof height as the nearby church of St Mary's preventing the spire from being dominated by Montevetros bulk, before rising diagonally to its highest point on the opposite side of the site.
