Originally planned at 100 metres in height in 2004, the scheme was eventually reduced to 65 metres to the tip of the spire in 2008 before planning permission was granted.
The south-eastern portion of the upper floor will have a special prayer room angled towards Nottingham city centre to provide sweeping city views.
