  • The Europa Hotel was built on the site of the former Great Northern Railway Company railway station.
  • The hotel was blown up by the IRA in 1993 and damaged so badly it sold for a mere 4.4 million.
  • Starting in early 2008 was an extension to the hotel increasing the height of a rear wing of the hotel by seven floors to twelve and adding 35 bedrooms to its 240 room total. The Robinson Patterson designed extension was completed in the latter part of 2008.
