  • Construction began in 1874 with the nave of the cathedral opening on the 25th of January 1879.
  • The last part of the cathedral to be built were the two western spires which were constructed from 1913 to 1917 to a design by Charles Marriott Oldrid Scott who was a grandson of the main project architect, George Gilbert Scott.
