Other Information

  • The Obel in fact has 28 floors above ground, 26 of these are residential and are wrongly named by the press as being the total number of storeys for the project.
  • Every single apartment of the first phase of this development sold within 48 hours.
  • The scheme was originally supposed to have a 144 bedroom hotel on 8 lower floors but this was removed to increase the profitability and replaced with apartments and a 105 bedroom hotel. At the same time the height was increased from 80 to 85 metres.
  • The name "Obel" means "Obelisk set in old Belfast."
