Clad almost exclusively in aluminium and glass, the sloping crown of the building and the curving profile are designed to evoke the image of the prow of an ocean liner.
Construction of the building was complicated by the existence of the Blackwall Tunnel almost directly under the site. As a result the scheme sits on a suspended concrete raft over it, portions of which were marked for no piling to insure the integrity of the tunnel remained intact.
In total the structure from foundations to core contains 40,000 cubic metres of slipform concrete consisting of Pozzolith 100XR, Glenium SKY 544 and Glenium 27.
Connected to Ontario Tower thanks to interlinked entrances and a shared central atrium is a 169 bedroom hotel.
