Drapers Gardens Also known as City Tower

Images

  • Drapers Garden from Liverpool Street
  • Drapers Garden under demolition

Other Information

  • The building is cantilevered to allow it to be built over other buildings just as Richard Seifert did with his later design, Tower 42.
  • Although scheduled for redevelopment, Drapers Garden was considered by many to be a fine example of the period, and was also the centre of a campaign to be listed and protected by English Heritage which ultimately failed.
  • As of its demolition in 2007 Drapers Gardens was the joint tallest building ever demolished in the U.K.
